Book Club

On my quest to find a way to continue my sustainable utopia, two more books have crossed my path. While I have already been transformed into a bread making fool as a result of a friends recommending Artisan Bread in Five Minutes A Day, I have now been taken hostage by two new ones that I finished in record time. The first, a recommendation from a chef at a cooking class where I volunteered, is about cheese. The great thing that happened when I started reading Cheesemonger, however is that it is about so much more. As an unapologetic lefty I was so happy to find so much political history and as a music fiend, some punk history as well. Yeah for California! The family was subjected last night to their first tasting and I picked Taleggio. It went over pretty well considering its gone and the idea previously of stinky cheese freaked them out. The next one that just finished is Made from Scratch. I picked it up thinking it was a full on DIY book and by happy accident found it was someone, much like myself, that just really wants to check out of the conventional way of living. It was great because she was candid about her failures just as much as her accomplishments. I hope in my life I can employ a bit of that bit of "being a grown up"...just not quite there yet! We are trying her butter and pasta recipes from scratch this weekend so I will let you know how that goes. YUM!

P.S.  I have no idea why the colors on some of my linky do's went all wonky.   Sorry if it offends but I am totally over it.
